Abstract of the Article:
The utilization of digital media can either be for good or bad. There are ways in order to avoid digital misuse specifically by the children, first, restrict the use of media, and second, teach the proper use of digital resources. The latter approach which is considered to be proactive is where the following: media literacy and digital ethics are considered. According to the article written in the Cable in the Classroom (July 2009) media literacy teaches kids how to think about media so they build their ability to analyze, evaluate and create media. On the other hand, digital ethics teaches behaviors that help students while using digital media. They learn how to be: ethical, courteous, safe, and productive. In addition, digital ethics, also known as cyberethics or cybercitizenship is defined as “a code of safe and responsible behavior for the internet community” by the U.S. Department of Justice. The practice of digital ethics pertains to: (1) proper use of digital media, and (2) respect to one’s privacy and property.

Three things I learned from my RA:
The concept of digital ethics and media literacy.
Ways to avoid digital media misuse.
Use the digital media properly.

Implication to me as a person:
I need to be more careful and responsible in using the internet and other digital resources.
