Abstract of the Article:
Web 2.0 technologies provide the library users an option to engage in the library service without actually going there, but instead via the digital world. However, the following are the challenges in web 2.0 application in libraries:
· Social networking, social bookmarking and other tools rise and fall over a quick period of time.
· Financing the trainings of the staff on web 2.0 tools only to find out that what they have trained for
has been faced out or is being used rarely.
· The financial issue over using a web tool for the library which may be defunct over a period of time
without accomplishing the very tasks it was created for.
· Immediate benefits versus financial costs of updating different web 2.0 technologies.
Three things I learned from my RA:
· Properly weigh the pros and cons before incorporating any web 2.0 tools in the library
· Be informed on the current technology trends applicable in the library
· Be open minded and choose the technology tool which will best suit the library
Implication to me as a person:
· Not every ¨in¨ things that we encounter shall provide us with our desired effect.
